WELLINGTON TRADERS IN TROUBLE.

Two judgments arising out of prosecutions Jor breaches of the Shops and Offices Act were given to-day by Dv McArthur, S.M. •
An information, charging a Chinese fruiterer with "failing toclose his shop between six o'clock in the evening and eight in the morning on the nest succeeding working day on four daysjrf the week ending June 10- was dismissed. ,- | The second judgment was in a case against-Joscph Zachariah, who was simijarly charged- with- failing to close his pawnbroking establishment. • Defendant, eonlended^that his place of business did not come "under the definition of a shop, -and that if it did it was governed by the Pawnbrokers' Act of 1868, and was not affected by the later Act. The Court held (hat defendant's premises constituted a shop, and were not exempt fro/n tie opera tion of the Shops and Offices Act.,' A fine of £1 and costs' was imposed.
