The Mokoia Anglican- Church was opened and consecrated by the Bishop of Wellington on Sunday. A Teport of the ceremony will appear to-morrow. If need again arose the colonies would do their duty, but would demand a voice in tlie settlement after the war. The taroublo in South Africa-was due to the ignorance of British statesmen. He desired to lift the people and the colony to a greater of New Zealand, for soon, it would be realised that every Pacific Island should be British.

The Hawera Borough Band gave a- sacmi concert on Sunday afternoon in King Edward Park. There was- not a. very large attendance owing to the threatening weather, but the music rendered was very good, and fully repaid those who turned out to hear it. ~*
