Kettle, S.M., at the Police Com on two charges of having illegally lai toUvlisator odds. Mr Reed, for the defendants, explain© how the proceedings were first set ii motion. He said that his clients had re ported and given information to the tele graph authorities that "telegrams makiiij bets were being sent after the races wen run. " It had been understood by his client* that any information given by them woult not be used against them. His client! had then been proceeded against on this charge. The matter of inflicting a penalty was deferred till to-morrow.
