DUNEDIN, February 28. At the Police Court to : day there were two charges against two persons of being found on licensed premises during such time as these were required to be closed. The defence in the first case was that defendant, who is a barman in another hotel, had been sent for to visit an acquaintance who had been hurt. A fine of 20s, with 7s costs, was inflicted. In the second case tho excuse was that defendant had gone to the -hotel to meet a friend to arrange for a drive. The defendant in this case was also employed in. another hotel. The S.M. reserved his decision in five cases of alleged sly grog selling, four boing Dunedin cases and one from Port Chalmers.
