A TRIP TO ST. LOUIS.

IX COLORADO.

THE MARVELLOUS GRAND CANYON.

(By "F.H.H."i

On Sunday, 18th September, went for a walk up Williams' Canyon, and in the afternoon took car for Prospect Lake, and this (6.35 p.m.) finds me on Santa Fe train again on my way to La Junta (pronounced Yunta), where at 10.35 l pick up the California, Limited, on my road to Williams'. Here on Moniay night I take the side line for the Grand Canyon of Arizona. The remarks at the head of the leaves/ of your "folder" say it is "the greatest rift in the earth's crust!" "A railroad to the rim!" "217 miles long!" "13 miles wide, and 6000 feet deep!" "Most sublime scenic panorama in the world!" "The great round world has nothing like it!" "Easily accessible every day in the year." "Titan of chasms and painted like a flower!" "An inexpensive side trip." Well, we shall see. I had a night on the California,,, Limited, the fashionable train of the t^anta Fe. It is very up-to-date, carries nothing . but Pulhnan sleeping can, and only tuns serai*weekly from Chicago to, San Francisco. It also has a dining car, and serves meabi a la carte, a bar, buffet, smoking room, library, writing tables,, observation ear, parlor far ladies and children, and gymnasium. Above your ordinary first-claw fare, you must pay 3 dollars a day (and for any portion of a day) extra for your sleeper, or you
