Royal Standard, foaled October, 1901, was bred by William Patrick, Esq., Balmoral Farm, Outram, and is a dark brown horse with white points and ratch on face. This colt has been first as a yearling and as a two-year-old in Dunedin, Sire Agitator (imp.) (10.488) by Royal Standard [9847) dam Nelly McGregor (11,243) by St. Gatien (3988), g. dam Kate McGregor (6325) by McGregor (1487) by Darnley, g.g. dam Lady (562) by Si* Walter (795) : Dam Pride by Wallace (late Albertus; 7420) (imp. 1 ) by Golden Treasure (4417), g. sire Lord Erskine (1744), g. dam Pride of Kilayth by Salisbury Pride, g.g. dam Princess (imp.) by Prince of Wales (673). Agitator was fourth at the Highland Agricultural Show at Edinburgh in a strong class of three-year-olds in 1899. He was first and, champion tw.o years in buccession at Dunedin and Oamaru Shows. Pride was first as a yearling at the Taieri, and first as a three-year-old at tho Taieri and Dunedin, and has taken other prizes too numerous to mention. Grand dam Prido of Kilsyth has been a most successful prize winner at both Dunedin and Taieri Shows and was champion at Invercargill and Dunedin, besides having taken many first prizes as a brood mare. _ Terms : £4 4s. What's Wanted, as a yearling, gained first prize at Egmont A. and P. Society's show; first prize aa a two-year-old at Taranaki Metropolitan show. He has never been beaten in the show ring, except by his half-brother and stable companion Up-to-Date. His sire, Armdale, i was got by that celebrated breeding and •how-ring sire, Glengyle, out of the fine breeding mare, Nancy, who was shown until 13 years of age, and was never beaten in her class. ' Duchess of Alexandra's gr dam, Jenny, ' was one of the best draught mares ever . bred or imported to the South Island, be- I ing dam of the New Zealand and Australian champion mare, Flower of Balmoral. His dam, Duchess of Alexandra, was a most successful prize-winner, having gained the following prizes, viz. : First and champion at Tapanui (South Island) as a two-year-old. 1897 ; first prize at Egmont A. and P. Society Show, 1898; first and champion at Wanganui, 1898; first and champion at xaranaki, 1898; first prize as brood mare and champion prize as best draught mare or filly at Taranaki Metropolitan Show, New Plymouth, 1900. From the foregoing it will be seen that What's Wanted^ breeding cannot, be surpassed, and he is certain to prove himself a getter of tho very best of Clydesdales.
