NORMANBY TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. « The monthly meeting of the above was held on Monday. Present: Commissioners Rowe (Chairman), J. W. Jackson, C. A. Bates, H. McKoy. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read, From G. Kilvington, re bad state of street in front of Mr Hayward's property, loading to the church, and asking the jboard to have tho matter seen to. — Kesolvcd, That the Chairman inspect the road and get the necessary work done. J?rom H. iS. Canning, complaining that the ditch on Gore street was blocked, causing the surface water to encroach on his -property. — Kesolved, That the clerk write asking Mr Canning to remove pine branches from his trees now lying in ditch complained of, and that the surfaceman then attend to the matter of clearing the' ditch out as requested. From C. E. Major, M.H.R., forwarding copy of Town District Act. J?rom A. Clark, complaining that cows and horses were allowed to graze on the streets at night, and asking the Board to see into the matter. — Resolved, That the clerk communicate with the ranger on the matter.

SANITARY REPORT. The Sanitary Inspector's report stated that he had made three visits of inspection during the month, and everything was in first-class sanitary condition. The report was adopted. COUNTY ROADS. A short discussion took place with regard to the county road, and objection was strongly expressed at the remarks of Cr McLean at the last meeting of the Hawera County Council, which the members of the Board thought were made by Cr. McLean to mislead the ratepayers in making them believe that county rates had been spent on footpaths in the town district, whereas not one penny of county rates had ever been so expended. The Chairman said that such bias as shown by the Chairman of the Council augured ill for a satisfactory settlement" of the dispute. Resolved, That the clerk write to the Council, forwarding copy of the resolution passed at the special meeting held at Normanby on 27th May last, which reads : "That the road be put in order by the Board, the Council to pay half cost, pending a decision as to liability of maintenance, the body not being held responsible to refund." The secretary was also instructed to enclose, the account for £7 9s 3d now due to the Board by the Council.

FINANCE. Accounts to the amount of £68 Is Id were passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned.
