POISONED BY HONEY.
FURTHER PARTICULARS.
THAMES, May 5.
/ Cooper fLtip Hughes, members of a- shootr ing party who partook of poisoned wild honey, recovered consciousness this evening, and hopes arc entertojned of their recovery. Aftor the poison had done its work among! four of tho party it was decided to return to the Thames in an oil launch. Cooper and Hughes "were in too weak a condition .to do anything, and were occusionn))y attacked with a kind of paralysis. AH they could do was to lie in the bottom of the launch. Garden, too, was very ill, and the onerous task of looking after the engines fell upon Owen, , who was also sufFering soVeroly from tho effects of poison. There- was some whisky on board, and by drinking the liquor the effects of tho poison were , diminished, and Owen was able to attend to attend to the work, on the continuance of which the lives of tho others depended. He drank kerosene and whisky until it acted aa an emetic, and though he nearly succumbed he managed to stick to the engines until the wharf was reached. It was a most trying and sensational journey.
