PROTEST AGAINST EXPENSIVE FUNERALS.
AUCKLAND, December 10.
The funeral of Mr James Carroll, Coroniandol, took place yestorday. v- The Hon. J. McGowan was amon^ tne mourners. — o a protest against ,the expense and waste of money at th? 7 majority of funerals,' the deceased, by his special request, was buried in a plain board coffin, without covering or mounting of any kind, and carried to the giave in a one-hor^e cart. :.
