Received 31. 9.50 p.m. CAPETOWX, December 31. The Transvaal Legislative Council yesterday continued the debate on the no tion of Sir George Farrar in favour of nn experimental '.rial of ten thousand Chinese workers.
Sir Percy Fitzgerald stated that depopulation, perhaps starvation, would ensue if the present crisis were prolonged 1 Whan acquainted with the cjrcumstancjs othAP States of the Empire would admit )rfe Transvaal's right' to manage its own affairs.
Mr Brink, a Dutch member, voted for the motion, declaring it a shame that children should be kept from school to wovk in fields which Kslffirs ought to work. The motion was carried by 22 votes to 4.
