THE HAWERA HOSPITAL.
INSPECTOR-GENERAL'S REPORT.
The report of the Inspector-General of Hospitals and Charitable Institutions, dated July 2, 1903, has the following particulars relating to the Hawera Hospital : Number of patients on March 31, 1903, 11 ; admitted during the year, 148 ; total I under treatment, 159 ; discharged, 138 ; died, 12; remaining in hospital on March 31, 1903, 9. Sc-x, 309 males, 50 females. Localities from which patients came. — Hawera County, 138 ; Taranaki County, A ; Patea County, 5; Stratford County, 2; New Plymouth, 2; Auckland, 2; other 1 places, 6. — English 38, Irish 23, Scotch 13, colonial 77, Welsh 2, Swiss 1, Danish 1, Indian 1, Italian 1, Norwegian1, German 1. svo record was* kept of the form of re ! liffion professed by patients. Total collective days' stay in hospital, 3785 ; individual average days' stay, 23.80 ; daily average cost ( per head, 7s 4jd (less patients' payments, 6s 3d). The receipts for the year amounted to £1398 Is lOd, which was balanced by the expenditure. The sources of revenue were : Government £598 13s 2d, local bodies £516 9s 2d, subscriptions and donations £68 10s, patients' payments £214 9s od.
