He tin ought that the Board might pass the account, but that the fact should not be taken as establishing- a precedeint. The Chairman and Mr Wilkie opposed the payment /or excess goods suppflied. Mr Wilkie also thought only necessaries of lifo should be supplied. Mr Xayler thought recipients should bo allowed to purchase " luxuries" (such as jam) if they desired' to do so, provided they were not allowed to exceed the amount which the Board bad stipulated. Mr Wilkie felt inclined to inpve, as an amendment, That Mr Canning bo notified that the Board is responsible for only 10s per week in respect to recipient, and that only necessaries of life 'are to be supplied.
