Hill and Trumper by free hitting carried, the score into the eighties. Hill waß the first to go. The ground was playing somewhat slow. '

Darling joined Trumper, and the aggressive tactics were continued, the spectators being treated to a display of fine hitting by both batsmen. Darling succumbed to a catoh, and Noble, who followed, contributed 10, and then met his fate.

Gregory retired without scoring, and Armstrong assisted Trumper to carry bis ecore to 125, when the Sydney century compiler's career came to an end. He played a dashing, but lucky, \ innings. Hopkins partnered Armstrong, and knocked up 19 before being bowled. Jones contributed 14, and Carter made a single.
