Hobart, July 25. In the Assembly the Treasurer delivered his Budget Speech. The revenue for the year totalled £826,000, and expenditure £870,000. It is proposed to make retrenchment to the extent of £33,000. It is estimated the revenue next year will be £861,000, and the expenditure £860,000. In tbe proposed taxation, it is suggested there should be re-imposi-tion of receipt stamp duty, the substitution of a house for income tax, tbe assessment of incomes of non-house-holders, and taxation of trading companies with headquarters outside the State. The Treasurer anticipates obtaining £130,000 by financial adjustment, including £25,000 from inoreased railway rates.
