EASTER MONDAY.

The weather on Easter Monday was fine, although a high wind and a very thick dust made things somewhat disagreeable. There were many picnic parties, while the trains for north and south carried a large number of townspeople who took advantage of the holiday to have a change of scene. Locally, the only public fixture was the Egmont County Gun Club's meeting. The Patea races attracted many visitors, and the Eaponga sports were successful. Detailed reports of the different gatherings appear elsewhere in this issue.
