A HOSPITAL OF GLASS.

The city council of Philadelphia has appropriated £20,000 for the erection ot' a new hospital for consumptives, designed by Dr. Shoemaker, a well-known physician. It will be connected with the city alms-house, and will consist of eight large pavilions with a framework of steel and the Avails and roofs entirely of glass. This will enable the consumptives to enjoy the sunshine on clear days.. , Five hundred patients will be accommodated. These will be divided among the pavilions according to the stage of the disease. Practical isolation for each patientwill be effected by a novel system of ventilation, anil tTie constant generation of ozone. There will be. static electric batteries in all the pavilions to invigorate the air and destroy all the germs of tuberculosis. The patients will practically breathe rarefied air, such as is found at great altitudes, which physicians say is a deadly foe to tuberculosis. Remarkable results are expected.
