RAISING A SEA.
The Czar has just sanctioned a remarkable engineering project — the raising of the surface of the water of the Sea of Azof, 14ft Bin, by building a dam near Kerteh nine miles long. In the wall -immense sea gates are to be made for the passage of ships. There will also be outlets for the superfluous water. The cost will be about £5,000,000, the interest on which will be paid by ships trading to the ports affected.
