A large gathering of relations and friends assembled on Monday, February 3rd. at the residence of Mr and Mrs D. M. E. Warren, at Te Kiri, to. witness the marriage of their daughter Alice, with Mr Hugh E. Thornley, of Te Kiri, the ceremony being conducted by the Eev. H. T. Eawnsley, of Manaia. The day was an ideal one. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a handsome dress of white silk, with long train trimmed with pearl embroidery and true lovers' knots, and wore a tulle veil with wreath of orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers. Miss Ada Verrall attended as bridesmaid, and looked pretty in a dress of white pique, carried a bouquet of white flowers, and wore a gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was supported by his brother, Mr T. E. Noel Thornley, as best man, who came from the Old Country to be present at the ceremony. The presents, which were both numerous and costly, were displayed on the lawn where afternoon tea was served. Mr C. Prideaux, of Eiverlea, ably proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, which was heartily drunk by all present. The happy pair left midst showers of rice and good wishes from all present for Eltham, en route to New Plymouth, where they are spending a portion of their honeymoon. The bride's travelling dress was of fawn cloth with cream silk vest, and looked very pretty. In the evening a most enjoyable social was held in the Te Kiri Hall, presided over by Mr and Mrs Warren, when about one hundred friends were present, and dancing was kept up with much spirit to the early hours of the morning. Miss Alice Collins very kindly presided at the pianoforte with her talented ability, ably assisted by Mr Arthur Collins with the violin. Mr Noel Thornley officiated as M.C. 'Songs during the evening by Messrs Fred Collins and Francis were much appreciated. The health and happiness of the bride was drunk with acclamation, and one and all left with a feeling of haying spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
