CRICKET.
NEW SOUTH WALES v. VICTORIA.
Sydney, January 25.
There is an added interest in the interstate cricket match through the inclusion in both teams of a number of colts to fill the places of the veterans engaged in the test match at Adelaide, who are not able to get back in time. New South Wales in their first innings made 327— C. Gregory 6'o, Hopkins 117, Farquhar 35, Poidevin 82.
Saunders took 6 wickets for 57 runs, Layer 2 for 88, Wame 2 for 88, Collins 0 for 62, Worrall 0 for 19.
Victoria in their first innings lost no wickets for 13.
The partnership of Hopkins and Gregory was productive of most brilliant batting, and was a record in intercolonial matches for rapidity in scoring. Hopkins reached his century in 99 minutes, having made 23 fourers. The third century was registered for three hours and ten minutes' play.
