FOOTBALL.

Tbe annual meeting of the Okaiawa Football Club was held in the Okaiawa Hotel on Saturday evening last. About 40 members attended, and Mr A. Lees occupied the chair. Owing to the absence of the secretary, no balance-sheet was read, but it is understood there is a small balance to the credit of the club. The club had a very successful season laßt year, the second fifteen winning the junior premiership of Taranaki, while the senior team also showed up well in club contests, and would probably have done better had more attention been paid to training. A strong general committee, consisting of Messrs R. Jobnstone, T. Wells, N. Crocker, A. Carroll, W. Betts, D. Edwards, and G. Scott, was elected to look after the affairs .of the club this season. Mr A. Lees was i elected secretary and treasurer, and Mr W. ) Betts delegate to the Rugby Union. The election of captain, deputy-captain, and selection committee was postponed until after the practice matches were held. Mrs Batt gave a donation of a guinea to the funds of the club. The meeting closed witb a vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Batt for the use of the room. Judging by the enthusiasm displayed at the meeting, the club should be able to put two strong fifteens in the field this season.
