County Council.
The County Council met on Saturday. Present : Crs Winks (chairman), McLean, Marx, Maunder, and Boddie.
SPECIAL MEETING.
Prior to taking ordinary business, the council held a special meeting for the purpose of re- adjusting all existing special loans in the county under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1899.
On Cr McLean's motion, seconded by Cr Maunder, the following resolution was passed: "That this council, by way of special order, resolve that the under-mentioned now existing loans within the county of Hawera be readjusted under sub. -sec. 1 of sec. 2 of the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1899, so that interest thereon for the unexpired residue of the term in the aforesaid subsection set forth shall be paid at the reduced rate of £4£ per centum per annum, commencing as in the said Act is provided :— Hawera riding— (a) Main South Road, £1000; (b) Hawera -Norman by road, £500. Opunake-Stratford road— No. 1 area, £300 ; No. % £1800. Mountain Road, No. 1, £1200. Eltham riding, £1800 ; Mangawhero road, £400 ; Eltham road, £5000 ; Morea and Mataimareke roads, £800 ; Cornwall road, £77 ; Eliham road, £2000 ; Mangawbero road, £1200 ; section 185. Hawcia, £300 ; bridging Makino stream, £150 ; widening Mataimareke road, £250 ; Conway road, £200; Anderson road, £100; Lower Hastings Road, £450 ; Skeet and Duthie roads, £650; Clifford road, £100; Upper Duthie road, £900; Upper Hastings road, £800; Anderson road, £3000; Eltbam town, £2000; Neill road, £140 ; Upper Stuart road, £750 ; Hastings road, £2200; Scott road, £150; Stuart road, £450; Hunter road, £650; McLean read, £80; Castle street, £100 ; Stuart and Dalziel roads, £800; Cheal and Oru roads (county portion), £500.
