The Daily Telegraph, advocating the necessity of playing out test matches, says a three day's limit affords no true, test. They are merely gate-money exhibitions. The Englishmen are accustomed to limitation, and have learned a forcing game ; the Australians are trained to play out matohes, and have cultivated a slower and more careful style. If the Englishmen were batting first and made a good score, their opponents' only hope to exceed it is by cautious play, and an indecisive draw is inevitable.
