Mr McGuire, M.H.R., in reply to a letter from the Waimate Eoad Board, re endeavouring to have a further amount granted for the purpose of completing the Puuehu Bridge, Eltham Road, states that on his arrival in Wellington prior to the session, he brought the matter before the Government, as already recorded in the Stab Parliamentary report, and again asked the Acting-Minister of Lands in the House if he would place an additional amount of £300 on the Estimates. Mr McGuire also obtained a promise '< that the question of placing an amount of £1,000 on the Public Works Estimates to • improve the track to the Mountain House, ■ under the control of the Mount Egmont ■ Forest Conservators, would receive the most earnest attention.
