A Chinese literatus has been sentenced to death for threatening a missionary at Kiang. The Dowager Empress has decorated the missionary' and issued an Imperial decree that " Missionaries preached good morals." Bangkok, December 12. Siamese authorities refused to apologise for sacrilege in a French church at Bangkok, which was searched for illicit soirits.

The French inhabitants are inanimate, and state that the British inspired the outrage.
