MEET AT STBATFORD. , » [By Martingale.] The Egmont Hounds met at 3 p.m. on Thursday, at Stratford". There Was a large attendance from Stratford and Eltham, and the time passed most enjoyably. Some good runs were ob» tamed, • and the day was voted thd ' beat yet spent by the Stratford Hunt Club. Among those present were Miss Boaohe on Moonlight; H. N. Liardet, Dingo ; Gh E. Wilson, Foudroyant; Mr Gordon (huntsman),, Tim; A. 0. Greenwood, Wild Vixen; H. Bayly, Mignonette ; L. Bayly, Boney ; F.Bayly, bay; A.Bayly, bay; F. A. Pearson, Moonstone ; F. O. Gibson, bay mare; J. Porter, grey; O. Benjamin, Bon Jour; J. Stackhouse, Merry Soul ; B. Wallace, Record Beign; A. Wilson, Rainbow; G. Brown, Foulshot mare; H. Linn, Tommy; and numerous others that I did not know. We had a beautiful run of about three miles aftar a drag, the hounds running splendidly, and the jumping, of some of the horses was a treat to see, about 15 taking the last double — the Huntsman and Miss Boache being all the time in front. After the drag hunt was finished the whole pack was brought out and started in search of a hare, which they were not long in finding, but pus£ did not last long, and after a run of about 2 miles the hounds ran into her in the open and killed. Two more hares were killed after two sharp runs. A most enjoyable day's sport was brought to a close. There were several falls, Mr F. Pearson being most unlucky, " coming to grass " twice. The next meet will be held at Mr J. Quin's, Eltham, on the Bth. Gold Initial Brooches — solid gold— 6/6 each. Silver Name Brooches, 2/- each. R. W. Sargent, jeweller, Hawera.
