On charges of conspiracy to defraud, Doyle and Oousinß were found guilty, and the former was sentenced to eighteen months and the latter to twelve months. Auckland, September 2. At a meeting of the Exhibition Committee, some of ihe exhibitors sent a protest against the bar. It is also Btated that a number of guarantors are very much averse to the opening of the bar. A. B. Taylor, charged at Paeroa with issuing valueless cheques, was committed to take his trial at the Supreme Court. Dunbdin, September 2. The Chamber of Commerce Committee to-day decided to call the attention of the Minister of Bailways to the unsatisfactory manner in which rabbits are carried on the railways, and to suggest that special trucks be fitted up so that they can be carried separately, as is done in Australia.
