A Plucky Action.
(PBB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, September 1. Daring the voyage of the Ysabel from . the Friendly -Islands a seaman named McDonald fell overboard, striking his head against the rigging. The knock rendered him unconscious and he sank at once. Another seaman named Cozens, of Auckland, immediately jumped overboard and dived after the man und got him alongside. MoDonald is now recovering. Captain Edwin wires :— Wind moderate to strong from 'between west and southwest and sonth at all places. Barometer farther rise everywhere. gMiss Tamer, Miss Elliott, and four of the committee have been busily engaged ' every evening for a week classifying and recataloguing the books at the Publio Library. The amount of work involved can only be appreciated by those engaged in it. About one month ago my child, which is fifteen months old, had an attack of' diarrhoea accompanied by vomiting. I gave it such remedies as are usually given in suoh oases, but as nothing gave relief, -we sent for a physician and it was under his care for a week. At this time the child had been siok for about ten days and was having about twenty-five operations of the bowels every twelve hours, and we. were convinced that unless it soon obtained • relief it would not live. > Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy was rooommended, and J decided toitryit. I soon noticed a change for the fcetter ; by . its continued 1 use a' complete cure was brought , about and it is now perfectly healthy, =>O. L. Boggs, Stumptown, Gilmer Co., W. 7a. The New Zealand Farmer, Ootober,|lß97 . gays :— With the incoming of spring and the opening of the dair season, aa regularly as the rash of the new grass and the coming in of the cows, comes the liability to a certain class of cattle ailments always to be looked for, and, thanks to soience, always to be guarded againßt. Forewarned is f orej aimed; at the same time there are some farmers who are inclined to run risks, and who, hi the last resort, go for the veteri* nary-Burgeon to save a valuable animal, to find in the end that he comes upon the scene top late. The value of a remedy, always to hand and as invariably efficacious, is thus enhanced sevenfold. Should no case arise for its use, there is at least the feeling of confidence that, should need arise, the remedy is at hand. From time to tune standard preparations make then* appearance, and success following upon their introduction, they win a name for themselves in the agricultural, pastoral, and commercial world. Such a one, from what has come before us, appears to be Sykes' Bed Drench, whioh among dairy circles ib establishing itself in popular favour and recommends itself to all owners of oattte.— Advt.
