Those of a local nature will reoeive preference. EPITAPHS. Two valuable prizes will be given for the most ourious epitaphs (not neoessarily original). CONDITIONS. Entries to be in the hands of the Secretary, Mr A. G. Brett, by Monday, 24th January. All entries to be accompanied by the proper name and address, which must be written on a separate slip of paper. The best of the conundrums and epitaphs will be published in the the first issue of the Floral Fete newspaper, the winners in the second issue, and the answers to conundrums in the third issue. ART EXHIBITION. Open 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on 26th, 27th, 28th January— 6d. The public are invited to send framed works of art, oils, watercolors, engravings, or etohings to the Council Chambers, Hawera, for exhibition not later than January 24th. DOG TAX. fTIHE following fees are appointed I to be paid forthwith for the Begistration of Dogs within the Hawera County (exolusive of the Manaia and Normanby Town districts) for the year 1898, viz :—: — For Collie Dogs used for yheep and cattle, 5s eaoh For other Dogs 20s each Provided that the payment be made on or before 80th June, 1898, thu fees shall be 2s 6d and 10s respectively. 0.
