Mr Seddon at Home.
(per press association.) LONDON, June 5. - Sir Wesby Percival presided at a banquet giyen in honor of Mr Seddon. In the course of a speech Mr Seddon said the colonists never thought of separating from the mother country. He praised the patriotism of Captain Russell, leader of the New Zealand Opposition for suspending hostilities during the Premier's absence from the colony and defended the New Zealand Government in connection with the Midlan 3 Railway. He said he was eager to encourage investment of British capital for development of the mines of the colony, but would strenuoujly oppose the schemes of market jobbers. He urged the necessity for* more rapid 3team service between .New Zealand and Australia and Australia and England. In the course oi a press interview Mr Beddon said he was prepared to give a pledge that New Zealand would increase her naval subsidy and would contribute to improvement of land defences.
