(Wanganui Herald.) The Star Almanack and West Coast Directory for the year 1897 is now published, and as very few copies have been printed beyond those necessary to supply annual orders, early purchase is necesßaary to avoid disappointment. The Almanack is one that no business man on the Coast should be without, for, taking its 415 pages, it will be found to contain everything necessary in the way of up-to-date and conoise information. (Stratford Post.) The Almanac more than maintains its high standard of usefulness, several new features having been added to the present issue. It is indispensable to business men and the printing is excellent. (Taranaki Herald.) Through Mr T. Avery we have received from the publisher a copy of Parkinson's Star Almanack, which ir recognised as the most useful and reliable guide to this oout published. As usual, it oontains a vast amount of well compiled information, including the census returns for the colony and district, colonial statistics, digest of new laws, official and general directory, garden calendar, and farming notes. The general directory extends from Mokau to Woodville, and includes street directories of New Plymouth, Wanganui, and Palmerston. The Almanack should meet with a very large sale. (Kangitikei Advocate.) Increasingly useful to all classes of the community. (New Zealand Times.) It is a good-sized volume, and Contains valuable and useful information in Addition to the directory, which is a very complete one. The |" get up" of the book reflects credit on its publishers. (Wanganui Ghroniolejl The Star Almanack and West Coast Directory' for 1897 is now out of the publisher's hands, and is even more oomplete and useful than its predecessors. Included in its well and closely-printed 400 odd pages are directories of Palmerßon, Feilding, j Marton, Wangonui, NewPlymouth, Hawera and all intermediate oentres; statistics, law, farm and garden, calendars, summaries of last session's statutes, advice pertaining to the courts, and a variety of other useful information. The directory should find a ready sale both in town ana country. (Taranaki News.) One of the most useful publications we receive is the Star Almanack, "published by Innes & Co. (W. A. Parkinson), of Hawera. It has always been our pleasant duty to. comment favorably upon Star Almanack, Every year shows it in an improved form, and that of 1897 is no exception to the rule. It is beautifully printed, and oontains thoroughly reliable and popularly useful information. This year .there has been added new matter in the shape of statistics prepared from the latest and most wathentio sources, a synopsis of the legislation of the lost session of Parliament, and some of the more important restlts of the late census. All the town and village directories from Foxton to New Plymouth have been oarefully revised, and the ■porting tables, breeders' tables, and dairyman's tables, have received scrupulous attention. (Feilding Star.) The Star Almanack and West Coast directory for 1897, published by the proprietor of the Hawera Star, wh'ohisnow being circulated, is even better than before. In addition to the calendar with full astronomical notes, etc., it includes the census returns in detail for the colony; statistics compiled from this year's official returns relating to publio revenue and expenditure, land settlement, Government Advances to Settlers Aot, agricultural and pastoral industry of this ooftst particularly, and the colony in general, and Australasian statistics, digestof new laws, Dairy Industry Aot, xTenoing Act, Impounding Act, eto. garden calendar, the farm, and dther useful information. rWaimate Witness.) This is the fourteenth edition of thi useful . periodical, which* grows yearly in size and instruotiyeness, the present oontaining 415 pages of information of interest to all classes. Among the new matter, are. some of the more important results of the late census, a large amount of statistical matters prepared from latest and most authentic uouces, and a synopsis, of the legislation of the last session of Parliament. Other matter, has been revised and made up to date, and every effort made to add to the usef ulness and popularity of the almanack, whioh should find a place in every home on this coast.
