A GREAT OVATION. STRONG UTTERANCES ON THE EASTERN QUESTION. (per press association ) LONDON, October 10. Af the Edinburgh meeting Lord Rosebery said ever since the elections his colleagues had held his resignation. In the course of an interview LordRosebery, referring to his resignation of the Liberal leadership, said the situation had been untenable for some time, and he liacl determined to resign after Mr Gladstone's attitude on the Eastern question. Fully 12,000 were unable to gain admittance to the meeting addressed by Lord Rosebery. Many prominent Liberals urge His Lordship not to retire. In the course of an interview, Mr Gladstone declared he was unable to understand the reason of Lord Rosebery's resignation of the leadership.
