ADELAIDE, January 4.
The second innings of the South Australian eleven closed- for 134, New South Wales thus winning by an innings and 34 runs. The following are the scores in the second- innings : — Beedman, 0 ; Martin, 8 ; Scrymgour, 7 ; Giffen, 0 ; Lyons, 29 ; Darling, 33 ; HSU, 2 ; Jarvis, 27 ; Evans, 2 ; Jones, 9 ; F. Jarvis (not out) 12 ; extras, 5. Total, 134. Howell took 5 wickets for 44 runs; McKibbin 4 for 72 ; Bichardson 1 for 8.
The collapse of the home team is partially due to the intense heat which was experienced to-day, the thermometer showing the record for the year, viz., 106 in shade. McKibbin clean bowled Giffen with a beautiful leg break before he had time to score.
