JROM OUR OTAKEHO CORRESPONDENT. There is a very strong objeotion evinced by the Sseet road settlers towards the proposal to fix the southern boundary of tbe proposed new road distriot along ihej^" centre of that road, and energetic measures are being taken by ratepayers to conserve the interests of the three blocks affected, viz., 18, 14, and 15, Eaupokonui, by forming tbat district into a separate ward.
Following on tbe delegates' meeting of the 17tb, as already published, by you, • meeting of settlers was held at Ratanui on Wednesday last, when tbe following resolutions were passed without a dig* sentient voice, viz., " Tbat Bteps be taken to form that area between Palmer road on the east, railway Mierve on tbe north, and Waimate Block line on tbe weßt aod eoutb into a separate ward." Thus spoke tbe weßtern portion of the proposed ward, and it was-: then derided to asortain the views ' of the' eastern ratepayers, so tbe following was resolved on : —
"That a comrxittee consisting ot Messrs D. Gibson, J. Mudford, and W. Blennerhassett obtain tbe neoessary information, call meetings at their dis* oretion, and cj-operate with Eapuni settlers towards giving effect to the above resolution."
