A NEW BUSINESS.
The Egmont Engineering and Agricultural Works is the lateßt addition to our looal industries, having lately been started by Mr William Taylor, late of Canterbury, who haß had built commodiouß premises in Prinoesstreat. Mr Taylor has bad a lifelong experience in his business, as will readily be seen by the mention that be was at tbe early age ot nineteen foreman of a factory in Eugland in which 800 hands were employed, and that be bad previous to coming to Hawera carried on business for no less than 38 years in Canterbury. He has patented many inventions, including a rim wheel joint protector, Bpiral spring drawbar, self- closing gate hinge, horseshoe making tools, etc, all ot which may be seen at tbe works. He is prepared to execute all kinds of bridge work, gate hinges, grave railings, etc., and farm implements are made and repaired; in fact, the work of tbis class which oan be done in a large engineering works can be done on tbe premises. Mr Taylor intends shortly to enlarge bis building and start a foundry* Tbe present premises are fairly large, and are fitted up in first-class style, with some good maobinery. One fine piece of machinery Mr Taylor has is the Wbitworth thread, the only safe screw in tbe world, from whioh taps and dies are made or re out. The proprietor is assisted by his three sons, wbo are all thoroughly acquainted with the trade, having been taught it by their father. Anyone wishing to be shown over the plaoe will find the proprietor most courteous, and he will be pleased to explain the working of his patents, etc. The proprietor will doubless have no cause to regret bis enterprise.
