INVERCARGILL, September 27.
In the Supreme Court, Andreas Jansberg, cook on the barque Ganymede, sued Alex. Cross, eenr., for £1500 damages. Cross' son, an apprentice on the barque, quarrelled with Jansberg and slashed him badly with a razor. Plaintiff said Cross, senr., promised to pay all losses and expenses if no proceedings were taken, and Jausberg accordingly swore before justices at the Bluff that be believed it was an accident. Cross bad not paid plaintiff, and also said be bad brought charges of perjury against the defendant, but tbe R.M. at the Bluff refused to bear evidenoe, and dismissed the oase. Tbe jury found for plaintiff with damages, J6BO.
