Sudden Death of Mr. Austin O'Hara.

Mr A. O'Hara, of Skeet road, died some, what suddenly last evening. It appears he left home in tbe morning intending to go to New Plymouth, and, when just outside bis gate, took a fit of coughing, after which he commenced spitting blood. He rode into Manaia and was troubled I the same way all along the road. He called at Mr McCarthy's hotel, where he usually put up when in Manaia, and, on seeing how bad be was, Mr McCarthy tried to induce him to go to bed and send for a doctor, but he would not do so. He went to Mr Cullen'a store, and Mr Cullen, noticing him looking ill, asked him what was the matter when he replied tbat he was dying. Mr Cullen advised him to go to tbe chemist, and see if be oould not get something to give him relief. He then proceeded to Mr Hornby's, and on arrival there went into tbe con* suiting room, where be fell on the floor. Dr Westenra was immediately in attendance, and the sufferer was removed to the hotel, where he expired at 10 minutes to 6 o'clock. Mr O'Hara's death will be deeply regretted by a large oircle of friends. He was a oolonist of long, standing, and bad been for years on the goldfields in the oolony, where he amassed a competence. He then came and settled on the Plains, where he has resided for a number of years past, having acquired a couple of nice farms-. His loss will be felt in the district, as he was one of tbe sterling, industrious sort of settlers who can ill be spared.
