Thirty thousand miners in South Wales have abandoned the sliding scale of pay, and decided to join the Miners' Federation of Great Britain.

A mass meeting of miners at PontyPridd, Glamorganshire, has decided to resume work on Tuesday. SYDNEY, September 5. It is understood that tbe teamen's strike will be officially declared off to-day.

The shipowners and marine engineers have arranged a conference to discuss the rate of wages on intercolonial steamers. The conference opens in Melbourne on Thursday next.
