EGMONT RACING CLUB.
The annual meeting of the members was held on Tuesday eveoiog. There was a Rood attendance of town members, and in the absence of the President and Vioa-Preeident, Mr Davidson was voted to tbe chair. The Secretary, Mr A. G. Brett, read tbe balance-sheet for tbe past year. The balaDcs-Bheet showed that the year was commenced with a balance in the bank of £61 18s 7d, that privileges had realised £1736, nominations and acceptances £585, members' subscriptions £130, training fees £21, interest on deposits £47, Hack Sires Proiaoe Stakes (1895 and 1896) £150. Tbe disbursements bad beeo Btakeß £1650, charges £358, improvements £274, privileges £225, advertising £73, salary £50, printing and stationery £23, training course charges £34. The statement ol assets and liabilities showed that there is to credit £300 fixed deposits and £49 15s 2d bank balance. The liabilities are Sires Produce Stakes 1895 £205, do. 1896 £205, distressed jcokies 1 jond £19 16s 6(3, balance £419 15b Bd. The property account showed a balance to credit of £1098. I
The statement of the treasurer, Mr Nairn, who moved tbe adoption of the balance sheets, indicated that there were doe to the club .£lO2 unpaid fees. After pointing out that tbe stakes given waß an morease of £160 on the previous year, be referred to the fact thaUbe expenditure on improvements represented the thorough overhaul of the olubV property, which would not require further expenditure for a considerable time. Tbe Sires Produce Stakes must, on tbe lowest possible estimate, be a financial success. The training track matter required attention from the incoming committee, for it had been found quite impossible to keep tbe present tracks in serviceable order without closing them for a short time daring tbe worst of the season. Mr Heslop seconded. In answer to Mr Tonka, The Secretary eaid most of the overdue nominations were now paid. Mr Major pointed oat that the club had a remedy by posting. The Chairman agreed that was so, but the club did not want to be harsh.
Mr Nairn said that no club was more particular than the Egmont Olub. Mont of the money waß perfectly good. Mr Satton raised the question that the balance-sheet Bhould be distribnted before the meeting came off; and tbe suggestion was generally approved. Motion agreed to, NEW MEMBEBS.
Messrs R. D. Welsh, J. Shove, and H. B. Luck were elected members.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
Mr B. H. Nolan was unanimously reelected President ; and Mr A. W. Budge was similarly re-elected Vice-President.
There were fifteen nominations fov the office of commit teamen, and the following were deolared elected <-*Meßsrs W.Adam. sod, R. JEftcke, Button, Spratt, T. J. Howard, Moßae, Major, Baird, A. Goodeon, Tonks, and Riddiford.
A ballot was then taken for the stewards and the following wers declared elected : — Messrs H. J. C. Coatts, T. Mason, H. Good, Dr Westenra, H. M. Woodward, J. Daviaßon, R. Hicks, W. A^amson, and Heslop.
Mr Nairn wa« ire- elected treasurer ; and Mr Major suggested that a vote of thanks be passed to Mr Nairn for bis long services. (Applause.) Mr M. P- Baird was re elected timekeeper; and Dr "Westerns waß xe-eleoteu
