Stoddart, having injured his leg, wan unable to take part in the match. The Australians, in their first, innings, scored 147 runs. Blackham 42, and Trnmble (not out) 61, were tbe highest scorers. Lyons, Giffen, Bannormac, and Gregory were all dismissed without scoring, and tbe first five wickets fell with only 26 runs on tbe sheet. Hearne's bowling was almost unplayable, and he took 3 wickets for 5 rnns. Middlesex were all disposed of for 78 rans in tbeir first innings. The SUN BAKING I'OWDER odipsoa all others.
