THE AUSTRALIANS IN ENGLAND. (PEB UNITED PRESS A88OCIATIOK.) LONDON, Jane 23. The Australians beat the Kent eleven bj in innings and one ran. Fine weather was experienced for the opening day of the match Australians v. Kent, but the wicket was rather lnmpy. There was a good attendance. The principal toorers in the Australians' first laDingß were : — Bannerman 10 Brace 77 Gregory 59 W.Giffen 26 A. Hearne took 6 wickets for 49 rnna, and Wright 3 for 72 runa. The innings of Brace and Gregory was a splendid display of batting. Kent, in their first inninge, have lost eight wickets for 97 ram. Hearne 18, and Weall 20, were leading scores. The batting of the Englishmen was poor, and the bowling of Trnmble apparently puzzled the majority. The fielding on either side wai inferior. j
