A Charge of Cattle Stealing,

Yesterday we mentioned that another cattle stealing case was likely to come before the cqttrt shortly, bat withheld particulars. As the accused persons have dow been arrested there is no farther need for reticence. The information sworn by Sergeant Stagpoolo sets out that Albert Young and Mar* dooh McLean, alias Biohards, of Manaia, drovers, on or about the 19th February, 1893, at Mangawhero toad, in tbe County of Hawera, feloniously did Bteal, take, and carry away 28 bead of cattle, the value in the whole of £128 16s, tbe chattels of Wm. Henry Reid, of Manaia, farmer. It is said that tha accused deliberately drove the cattle off Mr. Reid's land to Manutahi sale yards Snd! thero caused them to be cold as the property of one Richards. The cattle were plainly branded, the brands having but recently been put on. A telegram from Patmerston North this morning informs us that the defendants have been arrested there, were brought up at the Oonrfc this morning and remanded to Manaia. : Just before going to press, we were informed that the accused also sold 17 horses at Marton ; and that J.
