MESSRS NOLAN, TONES & CO.'S STOCK REPORT.
Our annual sheep fair at Opunake took place on the 6th inst. We yarded 7000 head, most of which were good, healthy lines. The sale was not brisk, purchasers being inclined to hold off; however we managed at and after the sale to place most lines.
At our Opunake stock sale on the 7th inst. there was a good muster of cattle, most of which were disposed of at prices on a par with those of late sales.
We held the usual monthly sale at Manaia on the 9th inst., and had a large entry of cattle ; bidding was not spirited, yet we succeeded in placing nearly everything. We quote : weaners 30s to 355, yearling steers 52s 6d to 57s 6d, 18-months mixed sexes 55s to 583, 2-year steers JB3 6s to £3 12s> 2£ to 3-year steers £4 10s to £1 12s, 18-months heifers 50s, 2-year hand-fed heifers 52s to 58s. cows £3 10s 6d to .£3 l2s 6d, cows and calves £& 7s to £A 15s, fat cows £A 9s to SA 17s 6d. Sheep.— Lambs in wool (culls) 4s 6d to ss, medium 5s 6d to 6s 6d, superior 7s to 7s 9d, aged ewes, 5s to 6s 6d, C and 8-tooth ewea 9s to 10s, 2 and 4-tooth ewes lls 6d to 13s 6d, 2-tooth wethers 9s lOd to 10a 9d, fat wethers lls Bd. E. Maxwell's Romney ranis 4\ gs. each.
