A bomb was exploded outside the Quinnal, and smashed the windows of a room in which some of the Royal Family were dining. OTTAWA, January 80. Ivor C. Herbert, Major-General in command of the militia, in a report furnished to the Dominion Government, states that the condition of the military is impotent unless entirely re-organised. He adds that all classes of stores supplied are abominabl« rubbish. WASHINGTON, January 80. It is reported tbat Sir Julian Paunceforte, British Minister, bas been instructed by hiß Government to protest against the American annexation oi Hawaii. BRISBANE, January 31. At the Marine Board enquiry into the wreck of the Auckland bound brigantine, D'Arcy Pratt, near Rookhampton, the court found that the vessel was lost through carelessness and negligent navigation, and censured Captain Cogar.
