(BY TELEGRAPH.)

(FBOM OUR MANAIA COBEBSPONDENT.)

MANAIA, December 6.

Patrick O'Connor, a settler living on the Makaka township, left camp on Sunday afternoon without telling William Stattery, who occupied the same camp, where he was going. Yesterday morning Slattery made enquiries, and, with two others, instituted a eearcb, with tbe result that O'Connor's body was found in tbe Otakeho stream, at a crossing about two chains below the Opunake road. From his position it is thought that he must bave slipped when crossing tbe stream, which was in flood.
