I have to report that Mr. C. Newsharn has got through to Awakino, from the Waikato, with a mob of cattle, very much on the linPH of the road promised by tbe Government to Mr. Elliot. Let us hope they will shortly see their way to open up this road, ami put TaianaUi in communication with Auckland.

The R.M.S. Taioni cacao up from South at 8 a.m. on Monday, and got away at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, with 1216 quarters of beef, 1600 sheep, 300 kegs butter, and a considerable quantity of wool. The sea was calm, and the time occupied in loading was 27 hour?. The beef was of excellent quality, and the Egmont Freezing Company have be6n asked to have a special brand for beef as Canterbury has for mutton.

Mr. Kowin went on board to ccc his old shipmates in the officers. Mr. Kowin will take at least two cases of 100 each of frozen fowls and chickens with him on Ist March in R.M.S.
