(PEB PEES 3 ASSOCIATION.) NAPIER, November 2. The jury in the Joshua divorce case retired at ten minutes to nine o'clock last night. After two hours they returned ; into court, and from the questions put to His Honor it wonld appear they were unanimous in dismissing the charges against Mrs. Joshua, but disagreed as to Mrs. Joshua's petition against her bus* band. His Honor offered to take a three* fourths verdict after three hours' retire* ment, but at 11.55 there were no signs of the jury. At half-past twelve they found a verdict of three-fourths majority that Joßbua was guilty of adultery with Annie Tuft, unanimous that be did not commit adultery with Miss Keep, and unanimous that no evidence was adduced connecting Kennedy, Anderson, and Mrs. Joshua with the oharges against them. Tbe oourt was orowded, and the verdict evoked applause. An application is to be beard to-day for a decree of judicial separation »nd costs. Later. — In the Divorce Court, a decree was made for judicial separation, and Joshua's petition for divorce dismissed. Tbe matter of costs was ordered to stand over, except in tbe case of the two corespondents, Kennedy and Anderson, who were allowed £150 each. DtTNEDIN, November 1. Dr. Donaldson is suing the trustees of the Arrowtnwn Hospital for £10;000 for Blander arising out of a recent dispute, .'Tbe case is set down for hearing in Dunedin on tbe 22nd inst. WELLINGTON, November 1. The Irish team which took part in tbe tug-of-war contests arranged dy tbe Opera House Company last Jane, have instituted proceedings against Hon. B. J. Seddon the stakesbolder, for tbe prize money. It is alleged tbat under the xuleß they were entitled to tbe first prize, £50. The hearing of the case is set down for Thursday. The Post's Pahiatua correspondent wires tbat J. P. Clark, of Pabiatua, has instituted proceedings against Mr. E. A. Haggen, of the Examiner, Woodville, for criminal libel alleged to have been contained in various artioles on the poisoning oases which ooourred last. Christmas. • Tbe purging of the electoral roll resulted in between 1700 and 1800 names being ■truck off. TIMARU, November 1. A youth named Tegg, aged 19, employed at the Moßgiel Farm, near Temuka, hanged himself on Sunday night in a workehed,. and was found next morning. He was of weak intellect, and was one of ft. family of which several members are insane. The jury returned a verdict of ■uioide while of unsound mind.
