Mr. Gane had given notice of id. Mr. Morrow moved that M "J £be struok. Seoonded by Mr. <lone B . Mr. Ohing moved an amendmenfe,\l!hai one sixth of a penny in £ be gfraok; Seoonded by Mr. Gane. Mr.fDbinjt pointed out that a sixth on this Mar's assessment was more than a farthitfr the last three years. On the ! amendment being put Messrs. Ohing and Gane for it. all tbe ohter members lor M rate. Resolved, That persons who have, permission to erect gates and not complied with the.Act be allowed one month to do bo. In the event of such not being done tbe board will cause tbe gates to be removed. Proposed by Mr. MeHardy, seooned by Mr. MoHardy, that a vote be passed in favour of tbe New County Bfll, before the House, and that tbe resolution be wired to ' Messrs. E, M. Smith* and P. McGnire, M.H.B 's. On division for mover and seconder, Messrs. Gane, Jones, Morrow, and Ohing; against, Mr. Flem. ing. An application from Messrs. Bother? and Co. to lay a tramway on Kahiu Boad (east) was postponed. Accounts were passed to the amount of JSfTBs 9d. , Resolved, That overseer prepattnstimate schedule of d.p, and p.l. mol&s for various roads, also report on stale of all roadß in the district. l v
Mr. James Morgan, of Rahotu, has sold his farm, and, I hear, is leaving the district. This is a loss. Mr. and Mrs. Morgan and family, since they lettled mc tbe district, have made many friends, 1 and are greatly esteemed. The ladies in tbe district/are getting np a farewell social. Good] wishes will go with them from all in Rahotu and Oanui districts.
