HAWERA CRICKET CLUB.
The annual meeting was held at the Commercial Hotel on Saturday night, Mr. T. Mason in the chair. The balance-sheet and statement of averages were read and confirmed. The receipts for the year amounted to £9, and the expenditure £J Bs. Outstanding sab* Bcriptions will cover all liabilities. Election of officers resulted as follows: —
President, Mr. T. Mason; Vice-President
Mr. Caplen ; Captain, Mr. G. Bayly ; secretary and treasurer. Mr. Gieson; committee, Messrs. J. Goodson, Coutta, Riddiford, F. Lysaght and Dr. Westenra; match committee, Messrs. G. Bayly, F. Riddiford, and J. Goodson ; ground committee, Messrs. Parrington and White; club delegate, Mr. Bavly.
Resolved, That Mr Davidson's presentation bat be handed to the club, it being impossible to decide individual merit, as so many members attended practice regularly. (Welsh— C. Goodaon.)
Resolved, That the opening match, married v. single, be played on the seoond 'Saturday in October. (Riddiford — Goodson.)
Proposed, That tbe clnb keep the cap. (Welsh — Pamugton.) Amendment, That a new association be formed, to comprise the district between Wanganui and New Plymouth, and that the association cup won by this club be presented as a challenge cup ; and failing the formation of an association, the cup be retained by tbe club. (Bayly — Riddiford.) Amendment lost, and resolution carried.
Eesolved, That tbe annual subscription be raised to £1. (Westenra— Biddiford.) Resolved, That Mr. S. Dixon be eleoted an honorary member of tbe olob. (Bayly — Westenra.)
The resignation of Mr. W. G. White as secretary was received by the members present with regret, which, we are anre, will be felt not only by members but by all loverß of cricket. la consequence of the numerous calls upon his time, and his health not being fully re-established, Mr. White felt it would be better both for the Club and himself to. resign, muoh as he regretted havicg to do so. After some discussion, Mr. P. Giesen was elected secretary subject to his acceptance of the position.
