WELLINGTON September 10. Tbe Art Society is disappointed at not been able to hold tbeir fourth exhibition in their own gallery, the completion of wbicb is delayed by tbe wet weatber. The pictures Bhow a marked advance, but the drawings are conspicuous by weakness in many. Tbe Governor, in opening tbe exhibition, said he waa greatly sttuck with tbe progress made in arts, paintings, and music since he had been in the colony. Haggen, by instructions from Garvey, gaoler, has been released from ordinary menial duties exacted from prisoners. A deputation of preßSmen had intended to wait upon the Minister of Justice to ask him to interfere, but were anticipated by the action of Garvey.
NEW PLYMOUTH, September 10. Mrs. MoGuinuess, larming with her sons at Kaitaki, south of New Plymouth, dropped dead suddenly at about 9 o'clock tbis inorniDg.
