ALLEGED EMBEZZLEMENT

(per press association.) WELLINGTON, May 80. G. N. Bagot, receiver of land revenue for Wellington district, has been arrested on a charge of embezzlement. He was suspended some time ago, but afterwards reinstated. Since then further investigations have induoed the Audit Department lay an information against Bagot on : certain charges of conspiracy to defraud somewhat similar to the Ethridge case in Auckland. Tbe amount involved is large. Accused is well-known, and his arrest caused great surprise. Bagot appeared at the E.M. Court this morning and was remanded.
